What picks us up when we are down. 13/5/15

Hello there pretties! So as ye are all aware, the school year is coming to an end. This unfortunately, usually, means that many people get very stressed out and down in themselves. Not just because of exams coming up, but for some moving into a new year with new people. However, if you ever feel sad, there are LOADS of ways to pick you up. Edel and I try to stay positive as much as we can but sometimes its hard to be happy all of the time. Here is what picks us up when we are down.



1.Tea.
Can you think of anything better than sitting down in the evening in front of the fire with a nice hot cuppa? It’s so nice to just sit down and drink a hot cup of tea, whether its by yourself or with your family, tea makes everyone’s day so much better. Loads of benefits from drinking green tea aswell! Don't knock it till you try it.

2. Hugs. Sometimes life can get a bit too much, or maybe just a tiny little thing happened. No matter what is bringing down, a hug with anyone you were close to can turn that frown upside down. Hugs are so so important in life so never turn one down. Edel and I give eachother a hug whenever we see each other!

3. Netflix. Oh where to start with Netflix. If you’re  bored? You can watch Netflix. If you’re sad? You can watch Netflix. If you’re happy? You can watch Netflix. Lets be honest here, Netflix was one of the world's greatest inventions and for only €7.99 a month you couldn't go wrong. Okay we have to admit that it can be very addicting, But SO SO worth it!! Gossip Girl is our all time favourite!

4. Baths. Even the thought of a long hot bath makes my heart very very happy. But of course no relaxing bath could be complete without a ‘Lush’ bathbomb. Lush is another obsession of ours. Just the smell when you walk in the door is enough for us! So the next time you are feeling stressed, light your favourite scented candles, add the bubbles and just relax. (Below is our DREAM bathroom, every girl can dream, right?)

5. The ‘headspace’ app. This is a brand new discovery for me thanks to the amazing (and gorgeous) Bressie. In the video we shared with him talking about mental health he mentioned this app. And oh my god, you will not regret downloading it! All you need is ten minutes out of your day to yourself and the app does the rest. It takes you through a 10 minute meditation session that will immediately make you less stressed and much calmer! 10/10 for this app!


6. BLOGGING! Alot of people have asked us if we find blogging difficult, or how do we find the time for it. Well my answer here is that you will find time in the day for things you really enjoy doing. Blogging is like a hobby for us at this stage, and to be quite honest, we look forward to the time in the week when we get to do it! (We really don’t know where we found true happiness before Sunflowers and Sparkles).

We also LOVE reading blogs. Our favourites are ‘So Sue Me’ (a huge inspiration of ours), ‘Peaches and Cream’, Rachel Allen (even though her blog has zero to do with fashion, she is still gorgeous!)

7. Music. I think that this is the obvious one for everyone. I mean everyone has used the excuse of not being able to hear someone when you have your headphones in! From Ed Sheeran to Ellie Goulding, everyone has a personal favourite and at the end of the day it’s about what you want to listen to and what makes you feel better about yourself!

8. A good catchup with friends. Was it a long tough week? Is something getting you down? Please don’t bottle it up! A catchup with friends is exactly what you need and I’m sure they will have the best people to make you smile again. Whether it's a day out shopping or just a chat around the kitchen table, this is a real winner for Edel and I.


9. Children and Babies. I don’t think there is a better feeling of holding a tiny baby or running around after a little toddler to get your mind off of things. Edel and I are suckers for children (but saying that, how couldn’t you be?). Just being in the presence of a young child is so brilliant.

10. Shopping. Two words. Retail Therapy. Oh wow does this work wonders! It could be finally buying that dream pair of shoes or buying a new coat that was just marked half price. Come on ladies, even you have to admit this is the best one of them all. An excuse to go shopping, eh?



11. Going for a walk. Usually this works best on your own to get away from everything, but if you want to bring someone you really enjoy being with, (or your dog)  feel free! Going for a walk on a nice day is something that everyone should start to practice. Just strolling along with no worries and listening to the birds can make you instantly feel really happy. Just forget about all your worries and enjoy the scenery.

12. Youtube Channels. Edel and I could spend hours on youtube! From beauty videos to fashion hauls, there is something for everyone! I am going to list some of our personal favourites that make us happy when we are sad but if there is anyone in particular you love- please comment bellow!

So here we are again, another Wednesday’s blog over and done with. It feels like only yesterday we first made plans to start the blog! A massive massive thank you to everyone who has read todays blog, its because of you that Sunflowers and Sparkles is such a major success.
